Authenticity

Hey, are you living true?

Tell me, please. Who are you?

Do you even really know?

Satisfied you seem with the whole show

Remember, you weren’t always like this

As an unfettered child, imagination was bliss

With the time and storms of this existence

The real you struggled to hold up resistance

To the false, empty show they put on,

Forcing it, pretending to be strong

Appearing “weak,” to them a detriment

Grin and bear it while allowing mistreatment

Covert relationships, expert showmanship

The bells and whistles of a lethal trip

Into the night, the growing darkness inside

The Truth you stifled, the real you hide

Dysfunction multiplied, falsehood galore

Pain and suffering, an increasing store

Unprecedented anxiety, calamity of the mind

The Words of Light entered, the darkness to bind

A stable mind on Truth founded

The only way to be grounded

This world will never agree

But within yourself content be

Most don’t even really love themself

No longer be pressured into changing yourself

In the end, they’ll all realize

This world and its trappings were never the prize
