’Twas a world of ups and downs,

a cyclical sea of smiles and frowns.

The unsteady nature of such darkness

left emotions an unpredictable mess

with no self-control and an inability to rise 

above the foolishness. Thinking yourself wise,

you continued on in madness and folly,

following delusion and pretending to be jolly.

While your mind, in delirium, created a landscape

as a means of self-soothing, a way of escape

from the pains and anguish of reality. Truth

beckoned. The Word called you to the root,

to the core and Source of you, to the One Who

magnanimously heals, and Whose healing is true,

lasting forever. The Father abundantly pardons

once your heart is no longer hardened,

but open to His Way of Oneness and righteousness.

In this life-giving relationship, lovingkindness 

is imparted through the Holy Spirit with power, 

and with many other gifts are you showered.

Soundness of mind is an essential one you’re promised

the moment your egoistical mind you relinquish,

never to look back. Rose-tinted glasses 

are gone as sobriety of spirit greatly surpasses

the lack of power and understanding from before.

Your affection set on the world within, a restored

position in the heavenlies, of which you glean

peace. No other mind possesses a life so serene.
