Love Letter to the Hopeful
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.” Hebrews 11:1
In this letter, let us focus on the former part of this definition of faith, that is, the substance of hope.
What is substance?
Substance is defined as “the real physical matter of which a person or thing consists and which has a tangible, solid presence.” Anything that is real, tangible, and solid within this realm can be touched, handled and experienced. This substance is reality, not fantasy, science fiction nor a figment of our imagination.
Like the expectation of rain when observing dark grey clouds, hanging heavily in the sky …
So is the substance of hope.
Like planting a tomato seed, and knowing that with water and the appropriate amount of sunlight, we can expect to have a fruit-bearing plant within 3 to 4 months …
So is the substance of hope.
You see, those who hope, in faith, have an assurance of receiving whatever it is they desire or expect to happen. They trust in the outcome of the process, no matter how slow or seemingly impossible the circumstances.
“‘For I know the plans I am planning for you,’ declares Yahuah, ‘plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a hope and a latter end.’” Jeremiah 29:11
You, the hopeful one, remain steadfast in expectation. Many are the boisterous waves of the sea, foaming up doubts, fears, and mirages of impossibility. However, I tell you from experience, that if you remain unwavering, knowing that ALL things work together for your good because you love, listen to and do the will of Yahuah, Who reigns within you, your hope will be realized.
“Let your eyes look forward, and let your eyelids look straight before you. Consider the path of your feet, and all your ways are established. Do not turn to the right or the left; turn away your foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:25-27
Remain constant in the expectation of good, and it shall come to pass.
