Love Letter to the Obsessed

When an individual is obsessed, their mind is dominated by someone or something to the exclusion of other thoughts. They are preoccupied, consumed with thoughts focused and streamlined on the object of their affection.

In this current age, without Yah, we do not look at obsession in a positive light. In fact, research often shows that those who are obsessive may have a variety of mental health disorders that may or may not be dangerous or detrimental to both them and those in their social sphere.

One example is an obsessive lover who constantly stalks their partner, needing to know their every move, location and interaction outside of the relationship. Another is an obsessive compulsive child that cannot handle anything being out of place or dirty, so they preoccupy themself with a constant need to clean and organize their bedroom and any general area with which they are familiar.

The list goes on.

Are you obsessive?

Don’t despair.

I can tell you that there is a Being with whom one can have a healthy obsession. An obsession that is clean and pure. One that leads to light and life. That Being is none other than the Spirit of Yahuah.

We are commanded to love Yahuah our Elohim with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. If obsession causes the mind to be consumed with thoughts of someone, let it be those of Yahuah.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Yahuah, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Mashiah;” 2 Corinthians 10:5

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Yahusha Ha Mashiah.” Philippians 2:5

The Word of Yah tells us to have the mind of Yahusha Ha Mashiah. This means our affections are turned toward Yahuah and His will in our lives. A constant meditation on His Word and His Way are necessary. I once listened to a pastor who said he had scripture continually flowing throughout his home, that he would “stuff his mind with scriptures” so that his mind would only be saturated with the Word.

In one word this can be called obsession. However, it is not the obsession of this world, which brings with it no peace and no rest. The obsession with the Word of Yah and His Spirit, only brings peace, rest, and life eternal. An enduring light from generation to generation and age to age.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of Yahuah.” Romans 12:2
