Love Letter to the Double-Minded

What does it mean to be double-minded?

Let’s do a breakdown of the word. Double means consisting of two equal, identical, or similar parts or things. Minded simply means of, or pertaining to, the mind. Therefore, double-minded is defined as having two belief systems of varying degrees that are held as being equal, identical or similar. It is tantamount to believing that good and evil are equal, that light and darkness are identical or that love and hate are the same.

“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long do you hold between two opinions? if Yahuah be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” 1 Kings 18:21

I posit that the people couldn’t respond to Elijah, because they were double-minded. They did not know their Elohim, probably having only had a surface relationship with Him or none at all. Therefore, they were unable to make a difference between the Holy One of Yashar’el, and the profane one for whom the prophets of Jezebel cut themselves until their own blood gushed out. Because of this uncertainty, they were unable to choose the right way. Elijah had to then demonstrate Who was indeed God.

The Word of Yahuah tells us that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Notice the phrase — all his ways. This means that in every and all thoughts and eventual decisions he makes, he is unstable and/or uncertain. By extension, the fruits or results of those decisions will also be unstable.

So what is the cure for double-mindedness?

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your Elohim, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6

The simple answer is … knowledge. But not simply any kind of knowledge. Knowledge of the Truth.

“…through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.” Proverbs 11:9b

What is Truth?

Truth is the Word of Yahuah.

“Sanctify them through Your truth: Your Word is truth.” John 17:17

The cure for a double-minded person is the Knowledge of the Word of Yahuah.

“The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple.”

Psalm 119:130

The entrance of Yah’s Word brings light. Therefore, Truth is also light. Truth exposes the darkness and makes manifest. When you are able to both see (with the eyes) and perceive (with the eye of the mind), making a distinction between function (righteousness) and disfunction (sin), it becomes glaringly clear which way to go, which decision to make.

When Thomas asked Yahusha how to know the way, Yahusha said the following:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6

The way of the Word, is unto the Father, who dwells in light unapproachable. 1 Timothy 6:16

In another verse, the Psalmist writes the following:

“Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

Through knowledge of Yah’s Word, who is Yahusha Ha Mashiach, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirt, we will know of a surety that our decisions are the right way to go. We will now be stable in all our ways. Ways that will lead us unto Abba Yahuah, to His true purpose which He purposed within us before this world was.

This is the solution for the double-minded.
