Love Letter to the Rushed

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

If you feel rushed, stop running.

Rest a moment and be still.

Take a breath, a deep one.

And another.

And yet another.

Where are you going in such haste?

Why?

Once you do arrive at that desired destination, what else will you then seek after?

The grass is just as green where you are now, even if you feel it is lacking in luster. Experience the current pasture, because inside there is a lesson. Wherever you find yourself, there is always a lesson, sometimes covert, that life teaches. However, if you are in a rush to experience the next phase of the journey, you will find yourself in a very similar situation of discontent at the next destination.

Rushing can throw you into cycles of unhealed trauma. Though there may be new faces and new environments, the thread of that familiar wound is always felt. Until you face it, it doesn’t go away. Running away from it, doesn’t make it magically disappear.

What you run from has an interesting way of eventually finding you again.

To escape this cycle, you must learn to listen.

To listen is to watch and observe your actions or inactions and the patterns and manifestations that show up as a result. This process is slow, gradual.

Patience is of the utmost importance.

Be patient with time.

Be patient with yourself.

Be patient with the outcome.

Come what may, give yourself enough grace.

Do.

Not.

Rush.
